Shreveport, Louisiana Newborn Photographer | Sophia's Newborn Session

Shreveport, Louisiana Newborn Photographer | WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE FIRST TIME parentS?

IF I HAD ONE ADVICE FOR NEW PARENTS IT WOULD BE TO LIVE IN THE MOMENT!

These moments will pass you quick. Don’t worry when someone says you are holding him/her too much. Hold your baby as long as you want. All day and night. Trust me because mine is 7 and I miss it more than I can explain. Seeing all the little ones at the orderings 1-2 weeks after their session makes me realize they really do grow faster than we think. So don’t listen to someone when they tell you what to do with your child. Soon your child will not want to be held. It is truly bittersweet. You will miss those tiny toes, baby yawns, and sweet smiles.

SELF CARE LEADS TO SELF LOVE!

Think about things that could help with your self care. Things you want to do but might feel guilty doing. You might be a mom but you deserve to fill your cup. Remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup. You still have needs and wants before you were a family and don’t let them fade away. You need to have moments to yourself. Days where you don’t get overwhelmed about the mess. It won’t be there forever.

DON’T BE SCARED TO ASK FOR HELP!

Don’t be scared to ask for a helping hand. Even if you might feel like you are a burden. No one can prepare you for a child until he/she is here. You can try the entire time to get prepared but it is usually different than you expected. Don’t beat around the bush with little hints here and there. Say what you mean and mean what you say. That moment of fresh air, quiet bath, or long walk at the park will count. All of those moments will count when you are restless.

GUILT IS REAL!

I won’t sit here and say mom guilt is made up. It is definitely real. You might feel anxious, overwhelmed, or guilty doing things for your mental health. You might feel guilty you were unable to breastfeed or have a natural birth like you planned. The important part is your little one is loved in ways you dreamed about. We all know things don’t always go as planned and that’s perfectly fine. You have to do what is best for your and your child. So don’t worry about the ones telling you what you should and shouldn’t do. Every child is different and you as the parents know what’s best for him/her. More importantly, for your mental health. Your child needs two parents that are there physically and mentally.

These two were absolutely AMAZING! When Danielle contacted me she told her husband Arron actually found me and told her about me. How awesome is that? We all know most guys are not a fan of photographers. Arron however suggested a maternity photography session to Danielle. She might have been skeptical but let me tell you, SHE SLAYED! I am so thankful he did that for her. I love a husband who hypes his wife up! They were up for anything and trusted every vision I have. The best part is two session will never be identical. You are able to customize your session to your liking. When they said they also wanted fine art nude, I couldn’t help but jump for joy. Cheesy I suppose but I get excited for fine art because they remind my clients how incredibly beautiful they are!

Sweet Sophia was born a month early and she was super sleepy. She wanted to snuggle the whole time and I use don’t mind. I also coordinated the maternity and newborn session for their beautiful album. They definitely had a tough decision at the ordering because she was too precious! Her mother came to get in a few shots and talk about sentimental. Sophia is her first grandchild and you can tell how excited she was the entire time. She did not hesitate to give a helping hand.
